Peter Helliar was kicked off The Project on Tuesday night after making a tasteless joke about socialite Gloria Vanderbilt, who died aged 95 earlier this week.
Under the pretext of discussing the celebrity tributes to Ms Vanderbilt, the 44-year-old introduced an unrelated clip of Brett Hull, the vice president of the St. Louis Blues hockey team, singing 'Gloria' by Laura Branigan.
Gloria is the club's victory anthem.

In the video, Hull sings the 1982 hit single in a very unmusical voice to celebrate his team winning its first-ever NHL Stanley Cup title.
