Please all look after each other up there' Love Island bosses have come under fire for their after-care facilities following Sophie's death and the subsequent suicide of 2017 star Mike Thalassitis, who was said to be struggling with the impact of fame after the show. Following her passing last year, the show was also under fire for an inadequate tribute during an episode which aired shortly after her death. ITV have revealed they have overhauled their after-care for this year's show and vowed to provide increasing support for stars of the show. It was revealed in an inquest earlier this year that Sophie sent haunting messages to a friend on the day of her death revealing she had been 'devastated' by the death of close friend Paul Burns, who had 'previously saved her from suicide'. Pain: A host of fans joined the tributes, with devoted followers writing: 'One whole year without you @sophiegradon and life has never been the same since' She was found by her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong and his brother Ryan at her home in Ponteland, Northumberland after they forced their way through the front door. Mr Armstrong, 25, was found dead at his home 20 days later in the same circumstances. Sophie's devastated parents, Deborah and Colin, disagreed with the inquest verdict and said their daughter had an undiagnosed brain injury called Arteriovenous malformation (AVM), that can affect a person's reasoning abilities. They told The Sun Online: 'We needed more time to research and talked to a leading psychiatrist and neuroscientist... A tribute: In touching tributes to the late star and former beauty queen, she was branded the 'most beautiful soul and friend' 'They both unanimously agreed that Sophie's cerebral and cognitive reasoning would have been influenced by the presence of the AVM in her brain... 'We believe Sophie started to become symptomatic in December 2017. We noted an acute change in her personality and behaviour. 'Sophie was convinced she had ADHD and would often complain 'that her brain wasn't working right'.' The inquest heard the last person she spoke to on the day of her death was Sondeep Gill, whom she told she was having 'suicidal thoughts' since Paul's death.
