Naomi Watts promises fans they 'won't be let down' by Game of Thrones prequel

Naomi Watts is dishing about the highly-anticipated Game Of Thrones prequel.

The 50-year-old actress promised fans they 'won't be let down' by the new story, which is being conjured by GOT creator George RR Martin and showrunner Jane Goldman.

Explaining her thrill at being involved in the saga, she told the Associated Press: 'It makes me very excited, yeah, goosebumps all over.'

But Naomi wasn't ignoring the intimidating parts about joining such a beloved franchise.

'It is intimidating. It’s very exciting. And yes, having just come off the last series, where the world was blowing up over it.'

The over-the-top hype had worried about meeting everyone's sky-high expectations.

'Everything was Game of Thrones related. All the advertising on TV, every article — everyone’s jumping on that bandwagon. So, it is scary,' she explained

The Mulholland Drive talent said she hoped fans will find 'new and interesting' pieces of the show to love.

'Hopefully those fans come along and get to find something new and interesting in this world as well,' she said, continuing: 'I think they won’t be let down. It’s a great team of people they’ve put together.'

Just a month after HBO's Game of Thrones came to a close, filming has already gotten under way on the untitled spin-off series.

Filming has started off the coast of Northern Ireland, according to The Belfast Telegraph, with other sites being set up for filming, including Titanic Studios in Belfast.

The city of Belfast served as the main production hub for Game of Thrones throughout its eight-season run on HBO.
