Ahead of her 64th birthday next month, Somali supermodel Iman flaunted substantial cleavage in an African tribal-inspired look on one of three covers of ESSENCE's July/August edition.

'I always say my motto in life, especially my working life, is I want to remain a classic in a world full of trends,' the regal 5ft9in beauty said in the BTS .

'[The shoot styled by Marielle Bobo] still looks classic. It still looks modern but also it is a bit of a tribal and a bit of celebration of heritage.'  

Hairstylist Vernon Francois coiffed Iman's different wigs for the shoot while make-up artist Renee Garnes made sure her complexion looked flawless.

The multi-lingual stunner has an 18-year-old daughter Lexi from her 24-year marriage to David Bowie - which ended in 2016 after his death, age 69, from liver cancer.

'[I miss] his sense of humor. He made me laugh every day,' Iman (born Zara Mohamed Abdulmajid) told the mag.

'He was a very curious person, so he made all of us very curious about everything in life.'  

The make-up mogul keeps busy running her 25-year-old cosmetics company, which she would never have created without the late glam rocker's support and encouragement.

'He literally did not understand fear,' she recalled.

'He was in my corner cheering me on every step of the way. If it wasn't for him, I would never have done it.'

Iman also has a 40-year-old daughter Zulekha with ex-husband #2, Spencer Haywood.  

Also featured on ESSENCE's summer issue was R&B songstress Ciara flaunting her 5ft7in figure in a b&w-striped monokini.

'It's always a special thing when you get that phone call to be on an ESSENCE cover,' the 33-year-old Grammy winner said in the BTS video.

'And I love the theme. I love how we're celebrating the African mood and fashion - knowing that a lot of these African designers hopped on planes just to deliver the fashion here. That's true passion.'

Hairstylist César DeLeön Ramirêz coiffed the Texan-born beauty's dreadlock wig and make-up artist Yolonda Frederick-Thompson made sure she was ready for her close-up.
