The Hills: New Beginnings is set to premieres on MTV Monday night. 

But critics and audiences are already questioning the authenticity of the show since its predecessor so famously owned up to their being scripted moments. 

The newest cast member Mischa Barton is setting the record straight on the show being scripted while Heidi dished on the show healing turmoil, after stunning in promotional shots released ahead of the premiere.

The rebooted show will feature most of the original cast: Brody Jenner Speidi (Heidi and Spencer Pratt), Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Justin Bobby, Jason Wahler and Frankie Delgado. Along with the original cast actress Mischa Barton and actor Brandon Lee will join the cast for the new season.

It will however be missing the only two leads from the previous show, Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari. While doing press for the MTV show, she addressed questions of the show being scripted head on. 

'From what I gather from being new, this is completely different this time round, because it’s not the same production company it’s not the same thing, it’s more real,' she said.

Though the OC actress said that it depends on what drama is happening and what the cameras catch.  

'There’s also an element of it just goes where it goes,' Mischa said. 'Obviously they can’t be everywhere all the time, so it depends on what happens with people over the course of filming and that dictates where the filming goes so it’s the same for everyone.'

'It can feel like it’s set up but it’s really not. It’s dictated by what drama’s going on.'

Returning cast mate Justin Bobby revealed that they filmed more for New Beginnings than they did for the previous version of the show and that thought the cast mates try and hide
