He's one of the most popular presenters on television, known for his hosting role on The Project. 

And now, as he celebrates his third Gold Logie nomination this year, Daily Mail Australia takes a look at Waleed Aly's life away from the show. 

From being a loving husband to wife Susan Carland, a doting father to their two children, to being a university lecturer and author, it's no wonder the public is so enamored by the 40-year-old TV star.

Waleed is married to TV presenter and Australian academic, Susan Carland, 39, who he first met at age 16. 

Susan has been open about converting from Christianity to Sunni Islam at age 19.

She also previously revealed that she once told Waleed that he was the last man she'd ever marry, when they first started dating.

'He just really annoyed me,' Susan told The Sydney Morning Herald. 

'I think maybe it was that I'd become Muslim so I was dealing with all those changes in my life, telling my family and friends, and I needed everyone to give me some space,' she said.

But the pair appear to have a rock-solid marriage, with Susan often sharing sweet snaps of herself with Waleed.

In 2016 meanwhile, Waleed won the TV Week Silver Logie for Best Presenter and shared a touching tribute to Susan in his acceptance speech. 

'She's a seriously a huge source of support for me but she's so much more than that - a challenge, a provocation and an inspiration,' Waleed said.
