He was supposed to be playing at Glastonbury in England this week.
But instead, Johnny McDaid is in Los Angeles with girlfriend Courteney Cox after it was revealed he required immediate neck surgery forcing his band Snow Patrol to cancel its appearance at the music festival.
On Wednesday, Courteney kept a close eye on the Northern Irish musician who sported a cervical collar on a shopping trip with the Friends star.

McDaid, 42, and the actress, 55, have been dating since 2013 and enjoyed a vacation together in Ireland in late May.
Snow Patrol announced via Facebook on Tuesday that they were pulling out of the Glastonbury Festival.
Lead singer Gary Lightbody wrote: 'Our dear brother, piano and guitar player Johnny McDaid has a serious problem with his neck and after consulting with some top neurosurgeons they are all in agreement that the only course of action is immediate surgery.'
He went on: 'We are all of course worried about our brother Johnny. He is a force of nature and a giant light in our lives on stage and off and we of course will give him all the time and support he needs to recover.'
