Sunrise weatherman Sam 'Mac' McMillan will join The Wiggles on tour later this year.

On Monday, the Channel Seven star excitedly accepted an opportunity to perform with the children's group after being personally asked by Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field.

Sam impressed the four bandmates during the morning program, when he showed off his singing ability with two original songs he had written.

Sam was filmed in a recording studio singing two songs titled 'Sam the weatherman' and 'half-man, half-cat'.

'This is a big moment. It is not every day you get to give a song to The Wiggles, the people who know children's entertainment,' he said, as he got comfortable in front of the microphone and cued the backing music.

His first song spoke about the seasons, before he introduced his second song as being a bit 'edgier'.
