A desperate search is underway to retrieve a $10,000 KIIS FM studio sign, which was allegedly stolen from the back of a van by an unidentified man in Potts Point, Sydney.

Radio host Kyle Sandilands is furious about the theft of the neon sign, which usually takes pride of place in the booth behind newsreader Brooklyn Ross.

'There's been a massive theft here, now you guys might not even care, but I care greatly,' he said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday.

He added: 'Normally, behind Brooklyn, behind another pain of glass, there's a giant KIIS neon sign. Stolen! Gone!' 

Kyle reported the incident to NSW Police.
