Tom Brittney, the new star of Grantchester, began filming the latest fifth season on Monday, having taken over the role of resident hunky vicar from previous star James Norton.

Tom, 28, made his debut on the last season of the show, where he was introduced as the new reverend in town.

And he hit the ground running on Monday as he donned his dog-collar to shoot scenes for the 1950s crime-drama.

Filmed on location in picturesque Grantchester, Cambridgeshire, the actor was full of energy as he arrived to film outdoor scenes with co-star Al Weaver who plays Leonard Finch on the show.

Tom joined the cast at the start of the fourth season, when his character Rev. Davenport was first written into the show.

Will is a former inner-city chaplain who was appointed as the replacement of Sidney Chambers [Norton] - the Anglican vicar of Grantchester.
