Reese Witherspoon's new project Pyros sparked an intense bidding war that was ultimately won by Netflix.
Deadline reports that Netflix prevailed over six different studios who were bidding on the project, including Sony Pictures, which was reportedly a finalist.
Witherspoon is attached to both star in Pyros and serve as a producer through her Hello Sunshine production company.

Pyros is based on a 2018 New Yorker short story entitled Tardy Man, written by Thomas Pierce, who will also write the screenplay adaptation.
The story follows a group of people who have flame-retardant indestructible suits that are fused to their spines and they cannot remove.
These 'Tardy Men' (short for flame retardant) work for a corporation who tasks them with recovering objects for rich people when their houses are burning.
The catch is these Tardy Men are strictly forbidden from helping anyone else out except their company's clients, even when others are in grave danger.
