Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel-Horwood was reportedly forced to issue an apology by show bosses, after a dig at last year's winner Stacey Dooley left her mum in tears.

A source told The Sun that the famously cutthroat star hinted that celebrity contestants should sleep with their professional partners, after Stacey embarked on a romance with pro Kevin Clifton.

Craig was quickly reprimanded by producers and apologised for the 'hurtful' jibe, with reports also stating the scenes will not be aired in the launch show next week.

According to the publication, Craig was asked by host Tess Daly what this year's celebrity contestants should expect from taking part in the show.

The star said they could learn from reigning champion Stacey, but then quipped: ''Of course, if you sleep with your dance partner that helps...'

Sources stated that the snide remarks stunned the audience and crew members, with filming quickly halted so the comment could be scrapped.
