As fans get ready for Season 2 of the hit animated series Star Wars Resistance, producers have confirmed that two of the main characters are an openly gay couple.

Star Wars Resistance executive producers Athena Portillo, Justin Ridge, and Brandon Auman appeared on the Coffee With Kenobi podcast, where they confirmed that Orka (Bobby Moynihan) and Flix (Jim Rash) are an LGBTQ couple.

This confirmation makes Orka and Flix the first openly gay couple in the 40-plus year history of the Star Wars franchise.

'I think it’s safe to say they’re an item, absolutely,' Ridge said on the podcast. 'They’re absolutely a gay couple and we’re proud of that. We love Flix and Orka.'

Auman added that Moynihan and Rash, who voice the characters, are 'so wonderful' and that, 'they have the same chemistry' as the characters.

Star Wars: Resistance debuted last October on Disney Channel, with many fans starting to speculate that Orka and Flix were romantically involved in the 12th episode, Dangerous Business, when they visited Flix's mother.
