The era of the TV reboot continues to be alive and well – just ask Punky Brewster, a.k.a. former child star Soleil Moon Frye, who has landed a pilot order for a followup series to her iconic '80s show at Peacock, NBCU’s new streaming platform that is set to launch in April of next year.
Like Soleil, Cherie Johnson, who played Punky's best friend of the same name in the original comedy series, is returning to reprise her role in the sequel, reports Deadline.
The new show will revisit Punky, now a single mother of three young children trying to keep it together, who crosses paths with a precocious young girl who reminds her of herself at a younger age.

The original sitcom, which ran for four seasons from 1984 to 1988, followed Punky Brewster as a bright young orphaned girl who eventually is raised by a foster father.
