Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey is heading to Sydney later this month.

As part of his ambassador role with Wild Turkey, the 49-year-old will help unveil a chain of eco tourism cabins.

The Dallas Buyers club star told News Corp on Sunday that 'Australia has always had a special place' in his heart.

'I lived there for a year out of high school and have worked there many times making movies,' he added.

Matthew recently met with brothers Cam and Chris Grant, of travel startup Unyoked, to fund and create his own eco cabin 'The Reserve'.

The cabin will be located in the New South Wales bush, and the public can make bookings from December.
