Country singer Sam Hunt has broken his silence about his DUI arrest in Nashville on Thursday. 

The 34-year-old Drinkin' Too Much crooner shared his message on social media.

'Thursday night I decided to drive myself home after drinking at a friend's show in downtown Nashville,' said the former football player. 'It was a poor and selfish decision and I apologize to everyone who was unknowingly put at risk and let down by it. It won't happen again.'

He was booked in a Metro jail in Nashville, Tennessee, at 6:30 am on Thursday on charges of driving under the influence and having an open container, according to the Metro Nashville police department. 

The hitmaker - best known for the song Body Like A Back Road - was swerving and then 'crossed the center divide several times in his vehicle' along Ellington Parkway claimed TMZ.

Police told the site that he 'smelled of booze' and had bloodshot eyes.
