Megan McKenna walked away victorious on Saturday night's X Factor: Celebrity finale during which she yearned to forget her reality past.

The aspiring songstress has appeared on a string of reality shows, including Ex On The Beach, TOWIE, Celebrity Big Brother and a failed attempt at stardom on Britain's Got Talent yet she insists her X Factor win is her life-long dream.

During a critique of her rendition of Leona Lewis' One More Sleep, Simon Cowell stated that the show was 'her redemption' after her chequered appearances on TV, in which she became famed for her temper while she also had sex on EOTB.

Speaking about her past, Simon said: 'Megan we never met before this competition and if I was making an opinion based on the shows you've done before I would have thought you'd be an absolute nightmare...

'You've been the opposite - this show is a redemption for you.' Host Dermott O'Leary then insisted she 'needed the show' as her public image 'wasn't good'.

Megan responded: 'I'm happy now I'm doing what I love. Before I was doing those shows and I was judged. Its embarrassing but I was growing up and it was all on camera and I was young.'

Megan has made no secret of her desire to achieve singing superstardom - following failed stints on Britain's Got Talent, two bids at The X Factor, an attempt to win a place in a TOWIE girl band and a turn on Open Mic UK.
