Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac was arrested on live TV on Thursday.

The Seven presenter's cross to the studio was abruptly interrupted by Western Sydney's Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS).

The 37-year-old was forcefully pushed to the ground and subdued by hand restraints during a fictional simulation exercise.

The segment was performed by real uniformed officers, and was made to replicate a life-like forced entry by PORS. 

Sam had agreed to be a willing participant in the training manoeuvre set up by Chief Superintendent Donna Adney.
