Love Island Australia's Grant Crapp shared a harrowing video of a bushfire closing in on Rosedale, a town the south coast of New South Wales, on Thursday.

The 24-year-old filmed the terrifying footage while watching from the beach, after his nearby $770,000 Malua Bay home was destroyed earlier this week.

In the video, many people are seen taking refuge on the beach as the flames grow closer and a thick black smoke engulfs the orange sky.

'Be ready guys for Saturday,' Grant warned the residents of Rosedale, as the fire slowly burns in the direction of the beachside settlement.

Rosedale is approximately 6km from Grant's home in Malua Bay, which he revealed on Thursday morning had been completely destroyed by a bushfire.

The electrician posted a video to Instagram on Thursday morning showing the wreckage to the property he shared with his girlfriend, Lucy Cartwright.

'Reality of the bushfires. Lost everything. Grateful that the people that matter are still with me,' said a tearful Grant, who had only purchased the home in May.

Grant - who won Love Island with ex Tayla Damir in 2018 - also shared several bleak photos from inside the property, showing most of his possessions reduced to ash.

Trying to make light of the awful situation, Grant joked that the contents of his charred fridge had survived the blaze as he retrieved several bottles of beer.

'May as well have a few beers, are they cold?' he said.
