And Bindi Irwin took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the 'sweet faces' of bats that were brought to Australia Zoo from New South Wales wildlife hospitals. 

The 21-year-old conservationist shared three adorable snaps of the tiny, wide-eyed animals wrapped in colourful blankets.

'Over 600 bats were transported from caring facilities evacuated in New South Wales due to fire,' Bindi explained. 

She added: 'Our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital has treated over 100 of these beautiful little souls. I wanted to share with you some of the sweet faces that are getting a second chance at life.' 

Bindi has been using her platform over the past week. to share information about the animals that have been affected by the bush fires.

 On Sunday, she shared footage of 'hundreds of grey-headed flying foxes, a species listed as vulnerable', that were also evacuated after the rescue centre they were in was threatened by the bushfires.  

 'Our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital takes in animals from all over Australia,' she explained.
