He's almost 14,000 km from home.
But new Love Island recruit Callum Jones, 23, has revealed that he didn't tell his work colleagues back in Manchester that he was leaving to go to South Africa to be on the new series of Love Island, which starts on Sunday.
He said his fellow scaffolders may think he's on leave but that he's actually quit to go on a new adventure.
Where's Callum? Callum Jones, 23, has revealed that he didn't tell his work colleagues back in Manchester that he was leaving to go to South Africa
The toned gym-goer said, however, that they will have copped on that he's not coming back as he was meant to work on his site on Monday.
He told MailOnline: 'They will have [realised] yesterday as I was meant to turn in. I’ve only told one person, my supervisor, that I was leaving.
'I just told him. Everyone else was expecting me in.'
Despite quitting his job, the level headed hunk said he isn't taking anything for granted and knows that he could be back in his old job within weeks.
Not coming in: The toned gym-goer said, however, that they will have copped on that he's not coming back as he was meant to work on his site on Monday
'I’m prepared for it,' he said at the ITV show's African camp, adding: 'It is what it is. I kind of told myself – I’m not guaranteed money or fame, I could be back on the building site in two months time.'
He added that his workmates have known of his intentions to join Love Island since he applied for the summer series that Greg O'Shea and Amber Gill won.
On his ideal woman, he shares: 'I always fancy girls with dark hair, tanned skin, red lipstick and white nail polish.'

Callum also insists he wouldn't go behind a pal's back to woo a potential love interest: 'I always think it’s best to go to a guy and speak to them first to clear up anything you need to. I wouldn’t go behind a lad’s back.'
He adds: 'I love cooking. I dream of food before I go to bed every night, without fail. If I was to make a three-course meal for a girl, the starter would probably have to be tempura king prawns.
'The main would be a pad Thai, maybe. And then for dessert I’d probably make a tiramisu. And If I can’t win you over in three courses, then you’re snookered – you’ve got no chance!
'Guilty pleasures, I’ve got a few, to be fair. I love white toes and white fingernails. So if you’re the girl who’s got them, step forward.
'As sad as it sounds, I have been single for 23 years, so it is getting a bit boring now… I’ve not met any girls at work just because I’m surrounded by men all the time, dirty smelly men!'
