And on Wednesday, actress Kate Bosworth took to Instagram to urge her 860,000 fans to donate to bushfire relief agencies that are in desperate need of aid.

In the post, Kate, 37, revealed she lived in Australia for 'nearly a year' and that it was 'one of the most beautiful and significant places in the world' to her.

'It was a personally challenging time in my life - I felt so lost when I arrived in Sydney, but by the time I boarded that plane back to the US a year later, I truly felt I had found myself again,' she wrote.

'And so much of that is because of the strength, depth, authenticity and the infinite kindness of the community there. 

'As I look at the current devastation, this beautiful land on fire... my heart literally breaks,' she said.
