Mary Higgins Clark, author of On the Street Where You Live and Where Are the Children?, has died at 92 years old.

The mystery writer was dubbed the 'queen of suspense,' publishing more than 50 bestsellers in her life.

She died peacefully Friday night of natural causes in Naples, Florida, surrounded by friends and family.

Simon & Schuster announced her passing Friday in a brief statement posted to Twitter. 

They tweeted: 'It is with deep sadness we say goodbye to the "Queen of Suspense" Mary Higgins Clark, author of over 40 bestselling suspense titles. 

'She passed away peacefully this evening, January 31, at the age of 92 surrounded by family and friends.'

The publisher's president and CEO Carolyn Reidy also released a statement of her own.
