The Greatest Dancer: Cheryl shares rare insight into life at home with son Bear

She tends to keep her family life out of the spotlight.

Yet during Saturday's episode of the Greatest Dancer, Cheryl offered viewers a rare insight into her home life with son Bear Grey Payne, two.

While offering feedback to her group the Queens, who later became one of the first acts to be send home, the singer, 36, referenced her little boy.

Cheryl, who shares son Bear with her ex-boyfriend Liam Payne, told the group that one of their dance moves is something she does at home with the youngster.

She revealed: 'The windmill arms, I do that at home with my son.

The former Girls Aloud star went on to confess that it's likely he will have already picked up the move after watching the latest episode of the show.

Cheryl said: 'I know he's already going to be at home doing it now. '

Artists Liam and Cheryl dated between February 2016 and July 2018. The pair welcomed their first child Bear in March 2017.

The pair have remained civil since their split, with the hunk even insisting he would be not sure what he and Bear would do without Cheryl in a sweet Mother's Day post in March.

Both acts vowed to keep doing what they do best while their mentors reassured them they were incredibly proud of them and their performances.

Dance point were the last troop to be saved on the show leaving both The Queens and Ryan in the bottom two.

The first live show kicked off in sensational style as Oti Mabuse, Cheryl, Todrick Hall and Matthew Morrison took to the stage to introduce their acts to Best of British week. 

First up was a Scottish dance troop whose challenge is pantomime - Dance point - who revealed: 'It's so exciting we're going to bring so much creativity - it's going to be the best time ever.'

Todrick met the group for their first rehearsals and joked that it takes him a little while to understand what they're saying.

Taking inspiration from their challenge pantomime, the group constructed a routine to Disney classic Aladdin's Friend Like Me, which tells the tale of the titular character meeting the Genie for the first time.

The group scored 89.9% from the audience and Oti gushed: Absolutely, that was genius! I loved every single bit of it. It felt like a dance spectacular, it was finished from beginning to end. I loved the Jive you guys added in!

Matthew added: 'I love that you told the whole story of Aladdin in two minutes, from Wizard of Oz to Disney, we are living in Todrick's world.

Cheryl said: 'There is not a detail missed. Everyone is in the pocket! You and I are gonna go backstage so I can learn how to touch my heels with my head!'

While Todrick sweetly said: 'If someone told me I was going to have 16 children by 2020 I would not have believed them, but now I'm over here like a proud pop!'

Latin duo Michel and Jowita were next up, Jowita joked that after meeting at a dance camp in 2013 she didn't initially like Michael before falling in love a year later.

The dancers were given the challenge of Shakespeare, and they opted to take inspiration from Romeo and Juliet.

Following the performance Michael sweetly told the audience that dancing with someone you're in love with is 'amazing'.

They received an impressive score of 90.5 per cent from the audience. 

 

Michael: There's something so sensual and provocative, it was just gorgeous! Your emotions were raw and beautiful.

Cheryl: I think the other 10% went to the bathroom. Jowita you are an incredible performer. To see you go from Jive to this, it's amazing - you're dreamy!

Todrick: It's so apparent that there's so much love and trust, that's something that can only happened if its authentic.

Matthew Morrison's act Harrison was given the challenge of royalty for the first live show.

Harrison admitted he didn't think anyone would like the clown from his audition, however they clearly did after he got round to the live shows.

He admitted: 'The clown shocked everyone - but now I'm taking on a king!'

Dancing to Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell, Harrison brought the judges into his performance as he ran up to their panel during the routine.

He was awarded a massive 94.2 per cent from the audience.

I'm sure everyone was loving that, it was a piece of art, you're not just a performer and dancer you are an actor. You're everything. If it was up to be I'd crown you king performer right now.

I was scared you wouldn't live up to the crown, but you really smashed it. I was losing my mind.

Oti said: 'I loved it! You send chills down my spine. you captivated from beginning to end. I am so jealous of Matthew, why didn't I just fight for you!'

My favourite part was watching the captains grip the table. It was a psychological journey, I can't believe you're 17 - you own that stage!

Cheryl's jazz group The Queens were next to take to the stage facing the challenge of afternoon tea, despite joking they're more likely to be found in the pub.

The performance wasn't very well received by audience however as they only achieved 48.4 per cent.

Todrick reassured them: 'Sometimes when you're doing something quirky people don't understand it and you stay true to yourselves. Your hammer move - I will be stealing that.'

Oti added: 'You're so refreshing, you don't do kicks and flicks you just do pure dancing.'

Michael said: 'There's a woman power vibe, it's so empowering, I haven't seen any big technical performances but you don't need that.

He admitted: 'The clown shocked everyone - but now I'm taking on a king!'

Cheryl told them: 'Don't focus on the 48 per cent, you were fantastic and when you watch it back you're going to be so proud.
