According to The Daily Telegraph, the psychologist, who pairs strangers on Nine's dating series, secured the impressive estate for $2.93 million.
Built in the 1880s, John and wife Kelly Swanson-Roe have become the fifth owner of the historic sandstone property in more than 135 years.
