'His podcast has shown his star quality and he has an array of unlikely celeb pals who are all happy to appear on his sofa.

'As well as his inaugural show starting in June, which is featured around the Euro 2020 tournament, he is being lined up as a regular chat show host in the mould of Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross.'

After hanging up his boots last year, the former Liverpool forward was snapped up by James Corden's production company Fulwell 73 to front the show.

Earlier this month, Crouchy celebrated the return of his podcast for a third series by pranking his wife Abbey Clancy into believing he got a tattoo of himself doing his famous robot dance football celebration.

It's safe to say model Abbey wasn't best pleased.

FaceTiming his wife after seemingly getting inked with the tat (which featured the strap line 'back stronger'), the 'nervous' former Liverpool striker said: 'Listen, I've just done something. But promise me you're not going to go mental?'

A concerned Abbey responds: 'Well, I can't promise you.'

He then reveals the spoof tattoo - much to Abbey's shock. 'I hope you're joking Pete,' she says.
