Channel Seven has halted production of The Chase to give host Andrew O'Keefe time to deal with his 'health issue'. 

According to the Herald Sun, the network has postponed filming for 'a couple of months'.

Production of new episodes had originally been scheduled to begin this week.

'Production on The Chase is to be held over for a couple of months,' said a Seven spokesperson.

'Andrew O'Keefe is taking time to manage and recover from a health issue.'

For the time being, the program's airing schedule won't be interrupted as the network has a stockpile of episodes filmed last year.

Filming for The Chase has stopped a number of times in the past year, with Andrew still under contract with the network until 2020. 

Channel Seven gave him time off in November in order to accommodate his schedule.
