'I was the only child looking for company and someone to look after and take care of.'

'I have been blessed to have my best friend, Zaya with me for 12 years.'

'We did everything together...we fought, we played, we laughed and we cried. But the one thing we never did was leave each other behind...'

'I’ve told you that I would lay my life down to make sure you are ten toes down and happy on this earth.'

'I don’t care what they think Z, you are my best friend and I love you kid, and if it means anything, just know there’s no love lost on this side,' concluded the son of former NBA pro Dwyane.

The caption accompanied two photos, one of the kids hugging in the back seat of a vehicle and another of Zaire kissing Zaya's cheek.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Gabrielle Union uploaded a moving video to social media, showing her stepdaughter Zaya discussing her decision to come out as transgender.

Filmed by her pro basketball player husband Dwyane Wade, 38, the video showed the 12-year-old speaking frankly.

Among other things, Zaya tells her father: 'What's the point of being on this earth if you're going to try to be someone you're not?'

She discusses the importance of being 'true to yourself,' and not to 'really care what the stereotypical way of being 'you' is.'

Dwyane asks: 'Even when people are being mean, and even when people are getting hurt because they're trying to be themselves? Even through that you still want people to live their truth?'

Zaya responds: 'Yes. I know it can be tough, definitely, but I think you push through, and you be the best you. Even through hard times you gotta push through. It's worth it when you reach that point of, yourself.'

Her dad replies: 'Feeling free, feeling like you, feeling like you don't have to hide.'
