Alison Hammond cheered the nation - and Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield - during her shoot-from-the-hip cooking segment on Tuesday's This Morning.

Ahead of her appearance on the Celebrity Bake Off on Tuesday night, the presenter, 45, decided to take to the This Morning kitchen and whip up a batch of chocolate brownies - in what turned out to be a side-splitting segment.

Most notably, Alison decided to declare that baking powder was optional, and then forgot to add eggs to the mixture.

'It's looking a bit dry!' she observed, as Holly and Phil were left in stitches in the background.

'You've forgotten the eggs!' Phil informed her.

Indeed, Alison struggled to mix up the craggy sludge in the bowl, before dumping the eggs in, turning it into a runny brown mess.

Still she persevered.
