So far the series has been praised for its 'realistic', 'consensual' and 'communicative' sex scenes between the two lead characters.

And Normal People star Daisy recently admitted that the sex scenes between herself and co-star Paul were surprisingly 'unfreaky' to watch back.

Although the Cold Feet actress joked that she's worried about her grandparents viewing the scenes as her boyfriend, Game of Thrones actor Tom Varey, was left 'gritting his teeth'.

In the first sex scene between Marianne and Connell, actor Paul was unable to get Daisy's bra over her head, something which made the final cut.

Daisy told the Evening Standard: 'I think that's my favourite scene in the whole series. I was really surprised by how beautifully it was shot and how unfreaky it was to watch. I was halfway through watching it back before I realised I wasn't wearing a top.'

The two stars only had a week of rehearsals before their first racy scene with Connell actor Paul admitting they 'just had to get used to it'. They worked with 's Sex Education intimacy director Ita O'Brien.

Daisy also told the publication that both her parents and Paul's have watched the series, which includes their at times graphic sex scenes.
