Hugh Jackman runs errands in a protective mask in Manhattan's stylish Soho neighbourhood - after the actor encouraged his fans to 'cover their face' or risk a visit from Wolverine

He's the Australian actor beloved for his down to earth charm and humility.

And on Tuesday, Hugh Jackman, 52, cut a low-key figure as he set about running errands around Manhattan's fashionable Soho district.

The all-singing, all-dancing showman melted into his surrounds in a black hoodie, matching track pants and a protective face mask.

He kept the November chill at bay in an always-fashionable navy puffer vest, zipped up for optimum affect, and a snug beanie.

The R.M. Williams ambassador rocked a box-fresh pair of trainers for the occasion as he manoeuvred around the lower east side. 

Hugh's sighting comes after the acclaimed triple threat used a graphic of his X-Men character, Logan, also known as Wolverine, to make the plea on Monday. 

The image, posted to Instagram, showed Logan in costume, holding up a sign which read: 'Cover your face and save lives, or Logan is coming for you'.
