Alexandra Cane has revealed that she dipped to a 'dangerously low' weight last summer, as she focused obsessively on dieting and working out.
The former Love Island star, 29, took to Instagram on Friday to disclose she learned the hard way that 'being slim doesn't equate to happiness' as she pursued a more slender frame amid a storm of personal problems.
Responding to a fan who said their plan for 2021 was to 'get slim and love [themselves], Alexandra confessed that simply being slim wasn't enough for her.

Sharing side-by-side snaps of herself wearing bikinis, she wrote: 'I got to a dangerously low weight during the middle of 2020 because of personal stresses/lockdown etc (right).
'It's important for me to share this because I don't want anyone to feel pressured to look this way.
'The picture on the left was when I felt my strongest/most confident (beginning of the year after launching my fitness plan). I had never felt so good about myself.
'It's hard for me to share this but I feel I have a duty as I want you to see that the girl on the right was terribly sad & not nourishing her body.

Healthy: She also noted the importance of emotional and mental health, as well as physical
'I was hurting myself. I was dealing with trauma & just trying to control some aspect of my life which at the time was food and exercise.'

Posting a selfie, she wrote: 'I probably gained about 4lbs from all the food/drink I've consumed this Christmas but I;m not even mad because I'd had the best time with my father & I don't feel guilty.
'I exercise to make me feel good. I don't give a f**k about looking a certain way to impress others

' Gonna have to buy bigger clothes in the New Year but life is short & I'm not about to sacrifice enjoyment with the people I love for the sake of an aesthetic goal.
'If you see me looking thicker [in the] New Year then you know why. Don't question me. Just accept. Happy New Year.'
Alexandra's posts come after she revealed that she is now trolled for no longer being the 'curvy' Love Islander after slimming down from a size 10 to a six.
