Harry Redknapp reveals desire to be cast in EastEnders as Mick Carter's sidekick

Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is very keen to join the cast of EastEnders, and wants bosses to give him a role as a sidekick to Danny Dyer's character Mick Carter.

The former football manager, 73, did admit that he only intends to appear in the popular BBC soap for a year if his wish was to come true, then he hopes his character would be killed off.

Harry - who was born in East London - admitted he has even written his own script, which sees him play himself as a business partner of Mick.

Speaking to The Sun, he explained: 'My ambition for 2021 is to get a part in EastEnders because I'm a real Eastender. I grew up in Poplar, so have a real affinity with the area.

'I've already worked out my character and this is the scene: Mick Carter and his regular putters are in The Vic. They're at the bar, having a drink and one of em says: "Ere, you heard Redknapp has moved back in the area?" and another says, "Nah, he's moved to that posh Sandbanks".

 'Mick then says. "Nah, he's had enough of it. He's come back".

Harry revealed he would then walk into the pub and tell the punters he has moved his business to the area, as he teams up with Mick. 

The former football star joked he is just waiting on a call from the soap to offer him the role.
