Paul Gascoigne has revealed that he nearly fell out of a helicopter after forgetting to buckle his seatbelt before lift off.

Paul - who was flying back to the set of Italian reality show L'Isola dei Famos from hospital where he was being treated for a shoulder injury - told how he 'lurched' towards the open door.

'I'm scared of flying at the best of times and always say a little prayer before take off,' the TV personality quipped to The Sun.
'But I was chatting to the pilot as we were taking off so I must have forgotten my seat belt. My career and family flashed in front of my eyes — but I managed to hold on and slide the door closed.'
Paul added that despite being fairly confident he would survive the fall, he feared he may be eaten by sharks once in the ocean.
