Prosecutors in Arkansas are objecting to a request by accused pedophile Josh Duggar to delay his child pornography trial to next year.

On Monday, prosecutors told the court they would agree to a 'reasonable continuance' of three months but said postponing the trial to next year 'would result in unnecessary delay.'

The prosecution also denied allegations by the defense that the Government had not turned over all the evidence it has in the case.

In Monday's filing, according to People, prosecutors stated that there has been 'timely and complete disclosure of all discovery material'.

Josh, 33, was charged in May with receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, including some that Homeland Security special agent Gerald Faulkner described as 'in the top five of the worst of the worst that I've ever had to examine.'

The former 19 Kids And Counting reality star is asking that his trial, originally scheduled for July 6, be pushed back to February 2022 or later.

The defense has hired a computer forensic expert to examine Josh's electronic devices and in a motion filed last week, stated that it needed more time for that work to be completed.

His lawyers also want more time to review evidence and conduct their own investigations.

In addition, Josh's lead attorney Justin Gelfand said he has other criminal trials scheduled for September, October and November that he needs to prepare for.

A three month delay would allow Gelfand to complete those trials but, prosecutors argued, 'there exists no legally or factually valid reason supporting a continuance until February of 2022.'

The court has yet to rule on the opposing arguments about rescheduling the trial.

On April 29, Josh was arrested on federal charges following a 2019 Homeland Security raid on his property.

According to the indictment, he is alleged to have downloaded child sexual abuse material online in May 2019. Some of the material he is accused of possessing shows children under the age of 12.

His computer was reportedly equipped with a dark web browser that could have let him anonymously search for child porn. The 'Tor' browser would have allowed the him to bypass anti-porn software called 'Covenant Eyes' that his wife Anna installed to monitor what her husband downloaded.

If convicted, Duggar faces up to 20 years in prison.
