Samuel will spend weeks in hospital following the accident.

His sister had shared an earlier update on his condition in a Facebook post last Friday.

'I got to see Sam today! All the phone calls in the world aren't the same as being able to touch his actual face. I couldn't help it, I cried,' Hilde wrote on the official page for their breast cancer charity, Love Your Sister.

'They reckon he'll be out of hospital in a couple of weeks, so I'll hand him back our Facebook page (for now - *wink*) and let him do the next update.'
