Charlize Theron has confirmed that a sequel to her 2020 action-thriller The Old Guard is happening, with filming happening next year.
The 45-year-old actress revealed to Variety at her Africa Outreach Project benefit on Tuesday night that the script is complete.
She also added that production is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2022, though she wouldn't reveal any story tidbits.

She did add that Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli will return as the gay couple Joe and Nicky.
'Oh, yeah! They’re definitely there,' Theron said, though she wouldn't confirm any other characters for the sequel.
The original movie also starred KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Harry Melling.
