Love Island 2021: Hugo Hammond's school says he was only on training placement ...

Love Island's Hugo Hammond was never officially employed by the school where he was teaching and was instead completing a training placement there.

Ahead of his entry into the Majorcan villa on Monday, the 24-year-old hunk had been leading P.E lessons at Blundell's School in Tiverton, Devon.

Speaking with the Daily Star, a representative for the prestigious school explained that Hugo was just with them on a 'very short placement' in the Spring Term.

Their full statement read: 'Mr Hammond was here on a very short placement during his teacher training in the Spring Term. He was not employed by the school.'

It is not thought that Hugo's teaching contract has been renewed since he has already completed his placement.

However, it is unclear whether Hugo knows he will not return to the school in Devon when he leaves the villa in a matter of weeks.

MailOnline has contacted Love Island and Blundell's school representatives for further comment.

During Tuesday's episode the reality star confessed to having had sex in a road and kissing 10 girls in one night, with viewers questioning whether he still planned to go back to teaching after sharing such intimate details.

The Hampshire local has regularly spoken about being a P.E teacher in his Love Island trailer and to other contestants on the show.

Hugo introduced himself as an educator in his Love Island trailer, saying: 'Hi, my name's Hugo, I'm 24 and I'm a P.E. teacher from Hampshire. I would definitely say that I am a cool teacher. I have never asked a girl to call me Mr Hammond.

'I don't think I could do it without laughing, so I'm definitely not going to be doing that any time in the near future.'

He continued: 'It's definitely going to be a Mr Hammond summer. No detentions, all fun, top marks. That's the dream.'

It comes after scenes in the reality show this week saw Hugo coin something called the 'half-night stand'.

Hugo said in a candid VT: 'I like my own bed and waking up by myself in the morning so I either have to do a runner or I have to boot them out so I can enjoy the rest of my evening and get my beauty sleep in.'

During his time on the show, Hugo has coupled up with Civil Servant Sharon Gaffka.

And although now having spent some time in the villa getting to know each other, things weren't going well between the duo on Wednesday.

Sharon pulled Hugo for a chat on the day beds where she revealed she was feeling 'avoided' and he apologised if she believed he was 'giving her the cold shoulder'.

Neither of the couple were feeling any sparks in their partnership, however seemed to be starting to think about making moves on others in the villa.

Hugo also told the other boys that he 'couldn't imagine' taking Sharon home to meet his family and that they have no chemistry.

On Tuesday's episode, the Islanders played a game dubbed Horny Devils, in which the Islanders had to read out anonymous sex confessions and plant a kiss on the person they believed was the culprit.

Faye Winter read out one confession, saying: 'Oh dirty! This boy once snogged ten girls in one night. I think it's going to be Hugo.'

She then enjoyed a kiss with Hugo, getting the guess correct. A second confession unveiled the news that Hugo once slept with someone in the middle of the road.

Days before entering the villa, MailOnline exclusively obtained an unearthed video of Hugo during his university days, in which he brands himself 'a massive sha***r'.
