Faye Dunaway has been cast in embattled actor Kevin Spacey's 'comeback' movie The Man Who Drew God.

Dunaway, 80, will be playing a Braille teacher, a role that was initially meant for actress Vanessa Redgrave before her representatives confirmed she was not appearing in the film back in May, according to Variety.

The movie marks the first role Spacey, 61, has been cast in after a series of sexual harassment and abuse allegations collapsed his career in 2017.

The Man Who Drew God sees Franco Nero play a blind artist, who is able to use people's voices to draw their exact physical features. But as his fame and popularity grows, he wrongly becomes accused of sex abuse.

The film, known in Italian as L'uomo Che Disegnò Dio', will reportedly see Spacey play a detective who investigates the wrongly-accused paedophile.

Speaking of Dunaway's role with Variety, producer Louis Nero told the site: 'She plays an old Braille teacher who is an old friend of the blind protagonist played by Nero and taught him how to read.'

Nero said the role was initially 'meant' for Vanessa, whose husband Franco is starring in and directing the film.

'It's the role that Vanessa Redgrave was meant to have. Vanessa isn't up to traveling anymore.'

Louis told the site The Man Who Drew God should be ready by September, after completing filming last week.

He also said they had generated a lot of 'interest from buyers around the world' keen on purchasing the film, even amid the controversy surrounding it's embattled star.

'All the controversy around the film has generated plenty of interest…It was good for the film, from my point of view. '
