The Emmy Awards nominations were shared on Tuesday with The Crown and The Mandalorian leading.

But there were several big names left off the list for the awards show that will air on September 19 with Cedric The Entertainer as host.

Nicole Kidman was not recognized for her powerful portrayed of a wealthy New Yorker whose life unravels after her husband is accused of murder in the HBO series The Undoing.

Her co-star Hugh Grant, who played her slippery husband who seems to lie through his teeth, was given an Emmy nod in the category Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. 

Kidman did receive an Emmy, however, for her work with Reese Witherspoon on the series Big Little Lies. 

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan was also left in the cold. 

Pedro Pascal from The Mandalorian was left off the list, though the Disney channel drama did land in the Best Drama category as well as several other categories. 

And Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Chrissy Metz were ignored for their acting work on This Is Us; Sterling K Brown and Chris Sullivan were singled out.

The limited series Small Axe was also not included on Tuesday.

And Master Of None from comedian Aziz Ansari was not given a nod for season three even though it was nominated for the first two seasons.

And Thuso Mbedu was not nominated for her role as the enslaved woman Cora in the Underground Railroad, which is Barry Jenkins' adaptation of Colson Whitehead's novel.

Ethan Hawke was not recognized for portraying abolitionist John Brown in the Showtime miniseries The Good Lord Bird. 

And Ted Danson was overlooked for his work on Mr Mayor. Joseph Fiennes was not singles out for his work on The Handmaid's Tale. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee from The Kim’s Convenience was absent as well.

Girls5Eva from Tina Fey of SNL fame did not get any love. 

 It was a big day for HBO and HBO Max that led all networks with 130 nominations, followed by Netflix with 129.

Best drama series contenders include The Crown, and Bridgerton, while Ted Lasso and The Flight Attendant were among the best comedy series nominees. Mare of Easttown and I May Destroy You will compete in the best limited series field. 

The list of nominees was announced by Ron Cephas Jones, 64, from the series This Is Us and his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones, 31, of Hamilton fame, as well as Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma.

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in LA on September 10.

Outstanding Comedy Series nominees include: Blackish,  Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, Hacks, The Flight Attendant, The Kominsky Method, Pen15 and Ted Lasso. 

The Emmys nominees for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series include: I May Destroy You, Mare of Easttown, The Queen's Gambit, The Underground Railroad and WandaVision.

The Emmys nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Sterling K. Brown, Josh O'Connor, Jonathan Majors, Rege-Jean Page, Billy Porter and Matthew Rhys. 

Lead Actress in a Drama Series nominees include: Uzo Aduba, Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Elisabeth Moss, MJ Rodriguez and Jurnee Smollett.

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series nominees include: Anthony Anderson, Michael Douglas, William H. Macy, Jason Sudeikis and Kenan Thompson.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nominees include: Aidy Bryant, Kaley Cuoco, Allison Janney, Tracee Ellis Ross and Jean Smart. 

Outstanding Competition Program nominees include: The Amazing Race, Nailed It!, RuPaul's Drag Race, Top Chef and The Voice. 

The Outstanding Variety Talk Series nominees include: Conan, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

'These nominations represent the work done in television through the most challenging year I can think of,' TV academy chief executive Frank Scherma said before the first nominees were announced. 

'While many of us in our medium worked remotely throughout the last 18 months, I have to say it feels so good to be getting back on a set. Making great television is a collaborative group effort where the sum equals more than the parts, and I can´t tell you how much I´ve missed it.'

The Primetime Emmy Award is given out by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in recognition of excellence in primetime television programming.
