Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean has opened up on an awkward exchange he had with Britney Spears, while expressing his support for the pop starlet in her bid to end the conservatorship she's under.

In the chat, McLean noted how he crossed paths with Spears, 39, - who is 'pretty much [his] neighbor' - at a cupcake shop in Southern California they both frequent.
