Love Island fans have shared their shock that new bombshell Danny Bibby has been allowed to stay in the villa and feature in Friday's episode.

The new Islander, 25, apologised for using the N-word in a historic Instagram post ahead of the show, saying he 'meant no offence' and has 'learnt from his mistakes'.

Fans discovered the comment, which was made in 2019, shortly after the plumber was announced as a bombshell on Thursday, sparking an outcry to remove him from the hit ITV2 reality show.

Taking to Twitter during the episode, one fan wrote: 'Can't believe Danny got into the villa after the controversy today.'

And another person penned: 'Danny needs to be taken out of the villa.'

Commenting on the news that there will soon be another recoupling, someone else penned: 'And EXCUSE ME but WHY does Danny get to choose anyone?? Should be booted out. No room for racist uglies.'

Adding to the furore, a fourth wrote: 'Danny needs to be removed, he's racist and I'm not interested in his apology or seeing him on the show.

'Having him in a house with black contestants who may be unaware of his history is irresponsible and triggering to watch. You need to fix this.'

'If love island really cared about diversity and discrimination then they should kick out danny for making racist comments. @Love Island do better,' added another fan.

MailOnline has contacted Love Island's representatives for a comment.

Danny was first seen in Friday's show speaking with Kaz, with them seeming to get on well as they enjoyed their first date since he arrived at the villa.

Speaking about fashion, Danny said: 'I'm just starting my own clothing brand. I'm a very ambitious guy, and you seem the same.'

Before adding: 'I've recently bought my first house, so I live with my cat. Me and my cat.'

Kaz then told the newcomer: 'Someone driven and someone who makes an effort.'

Meanwhile back at the villa, Sharon was at the fire pit when she receives a text, which read: 'Sharon. It's time for your date with Danny! Please get ready to leave the Villa! #pipedreams #nomorefriendisland'

On their date, Danny asked Sharon: 'Tell me a bit about yourself. What's your five year plan? I'm very much an ambitious guy.'

And Sharon told him: 'Ambition is really important to me.'

Danny continued: 'It's really important to me as well. I need someone that sees themselves going to the top as well.'

Friday's show also ended on another dramatic cliffhanger after Faye received a text which read: 'Islanders. It's come to recouple. Please all gather around the firepit immediately.'

The girls then lined up in front of the fire pit as it's the boys' turn to make a decision about who they want to couple up with.

Apology: Speaking from the villa ahead of the show airing, the plumber from Wigan wrote in a statement that he's 'not a racist person' and hopes viewers will now get to see the 'kind, loving' person he is (pictured on Friday's episode)

However, in true Love Island fashion, AJ soon received a text which read: 'AJ as the newest girl, you'll get the first pick of who you want to couple up with.

'And then Danny as the newest boy will choose who he wants to couple up with. The rest of the boys will each pick.

'The girl not chosen to be in a couple will be dumped from the island.'

Danny's full statement

'I'd like to take the time to apologise to anyone that may have taken offence to my inappropriate remark.

'I never meant anything malicious by this comment at all. I am not a racist person and it is unacceptable language and ignorant.

'I meant no offence and feel like I have really learnt from my mistakes and will never use that word again.

'I am a kind loving person and hopefully you get to see that in the show.'

It comes after Danny's dad Richard has apologised on his behalf, saying: 'Danny does not have a racist bone in his body and there were no racist intentions to this post.

'I absolutely apologise on his behalf for the offence this wording may have caused.'

The apologies come amid growing outcry from fans to eject Danny from the villa although ITV2 bosses are yet to announce a decision.
