Made In Chelsea star Ollie Locke and his husband Gareth have revealed their first attempt to have a child via IVF was unsuccessful.

The pair announced earlier this year they were planning to have a baby via a surrogate and have documented their journey so far on social media.

But, speaking to Hello! Magazine, they said the pregnancy had not gone as planned but they remained 'optimistic' and would try again.

Ollie, 33, said: 'I think our expectations were very high and we really thought it was going to work, but nature's nature and we can't do anything about it.

'We have to think that it wasn't meant to be and we are going to go ahead in a month or so and do it again. We're optimistic.

'Sometimes it just doesn't work. But that's not going to stop us from trying again and again.'

Gareth added: 'The feeling of not being pregnant this time really made us realise how much we want to become parents and we are determined to do that.'

Ollie also took to Instagram on Saturday to announce to his 476,000 followers who have all been following his journey that sadly their round of IVF had been unsuccesful.

In a heartfelt note, he penned: 'We wanted to share an update with all our amazing supportive followers who have been with us on our surrogacy journey.

'I’m sorry I have been quiet, sadly we found out last week our first attempt at IVF hasn’t worked and after the heartbreaking news we have come to terms with the situation and are now looking forward to getting out to go for a second attempt very soon.

'Doing surrogacy and IVF is not a straight forward thing and there are a lot of ups and downs and testing times that really make you appreciate what it means to achieve the end result of having children.

The first clip showed the couple holding hands as they headed to fertility clinic in Cancun, Mexico.

It then showed them going through a door in the clinic before the shot zoomed into a sample cup.

Commenting on the post, Ollie's husband of seven months Gareth playfully wrote: 'They gave you a naff plastic pot?! I got a crystal tumbler.'

Meanwhile, the second video showed the couple's egg being fertilised as their road to parenthood began.

The post garnered several congratulatory messages from his fans and showbiz pals, who were keen to pass on their well wishes.

Ollie and his husband married at the Natural History Museum in November last year, between England's first and second lockdowns.
