Real Housewives of Orange County star Elizabeth Vargas has opened up about the extreme politicisation of the show's most recent season. Speaking to the Unpopular podcast, the 45-year-old said that RHOC isn't a show about 'making a difference' and should get back to being about 'drunk women and Spanx drinking tequila'. Elizabeth's season of the show was marred in controversy after cast member Kelly Dodd made insensitive comments about COVID-19 and wore a 'Drunk Wives Matter' hat at her bridal shower. As a result, the show became highly politicised on social media, with some viewers even calling for Kelly to be fired over her views and statements. 'It was crazy, I wasn't used to it,' Elizabeth said when asked about the furore and outrage around her season. 'I was like, "this is crazy with all this, like, Andy Cohen can't stand Kelly because she's Kelly and she's with a Fox news guy." That shouldn't have even mattered,' she said. I don't want to get back into it and crawl into a hole!' After the season wrapped, Elizabeth, Kelly, and Braunwyn were all let go from the show by Bravo.
