As he and Ruth kicked off the show, Eamonn joked much had happened since viewers saw them the previous day, before Ruth gushed: 'You're a grandad!'

Clapping her hands with delight, Ruth added Declan and Jenny's daughter had a 'lovely name,' before revealing some of the hiarious suggestions they'd come up with for little Amelia  to call Eamonn.

She said: 'We came up with Grumps, but he wasn't too keen on that one,' before Eamonn admitted he'd prefer to be called Papa by the youngster.

He joked: 'It surprises people, because they look at me and think, 'He's too young to be a grandfather.'

'I've got people getting in touch with me about glamorous grandfather competitions and all sorts of things like that. But no, my friend Bill has anointed himself Papa and I like it.

'It's like the Pope. There's an infallibility that goes with it. So I'd quite like my grandchildren to call me Papa. That would be nice.'

Ruth added: 'Congratulations, Declan and Jenny. We're very, very excited and can't wait to meet her.'

In April Eamonn surprised fans when he revealed he was going to be a grandad after cryptically teasing he had a 'personal' announcement to make.

While it was happy news of Declan's new baby, many fans had feared the presenter had been about to reveal something about his health after he has been detailing his chronic pain battle while awaiting a diagnosis following an MRI scan on his back.

Prior to his announcement, Eamonn had cryptically said he didn't want people to be 'upset' but 'happy' over the news following a 'tough week'.

Eamonn who has been sharing details of his chronic pain battle this week said his condition is 'too difficult to explain' after Ruth said viewers had been asking how he was doing.

He replied: 'Since the last time I saw you I'm doing very well, thank you for asking.'

The presenter continued: 'It's too difficult to explain. We're not here to talk about my troubles and my pain.'

Eamonn returned home from having tests in hospital after struggling with chronic 'pain he's never experienced in his life' on Friday.
