Love Island 2021: Fans divided after Hugo friendzones his THIRD girl in a week

Love Island's Hugo Hammond left fans divided following Thursday's episode as he friendzoned his third girl in the space of the week.

The latest episode saw the PE teacher admit to newcomer Georgia Townend that there wasn't a spark between them, just days after he told Sharon Gaffka and AJ Bunker the same thing on different occasions.

And in a cruel twist of fate, Georgia was dumped from the villa after not being chosen by any of the boys, with Hugo opting to save pal Chloe.

After being unlucky-in-love in the villa, fans had been hoping that Georgia could be the one to win Hugo's heart, but it wasn't meant to be.

After realising there was no chemistry between them, Hugo sat Georgia down during the episode to tell her how he felt.

He said: 'I thought I'd let you know where my head was at and for me I'm going to be completely honest with you, from that first chat, I didn't get that spark.

'I thought it would only be fair to you to let you know.'

Taking it in her stride, Georgia responded: 'absolutely no worries whatsoever.'

Hugo added: 'That's a bit of a relief, it was a bit of a heavy burden.'

Georgia then told him: 'Everyone's in here to try and find that right person, and it would be worse if you were like yeah let's continue and having these feelings and not being honest.

'Thank you for being honest with me.'

Hugo added: 'and that's what I wanted to make sure I got across', with Georgia responding: 'To be honest Hugo I'd worked that out in my head already.'

Watching the scenes unfold, viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Hugo's decision, with some hitting out at him for 'disrespecting' Georgia, while others argued that it was his choice.

'People are hating on Hugo but i bet if he saved Georgia (bless her), those same people would say they're a boring couple Hugo can annoy me but if he's not feeling it, best not to force it' commented one person.

While another shared: 'I can’t explain my anger towards Hugo right now. I feel so bad for Georgia and she didn’t deserve any of it.'

'Georgia was so sweet and deserved NONE of that rudeness from Hugo but I AM HERE FOR THE DRAMA' tweeted a third fan.

'I cannot believe this is the third girl that Hugo says he’s not interested. Common Hugo ffs' said a fourth.

A fifth watcher observed: 'hugo is going to friendzone a girl for the third time.'

With another adding in his defence: 'Why’s it so wrong for Hugo to say it how he sees it? He told Chloe on the bed earlier in the day that he had her back, that’s why he binned Georgia. The lad fancies Chloe and wants a pop. Fair play to him.'

It comes after Love Island viewers began to turn on Hugo during Wednesday's episode as he branded himself a 'player with options' during a chat with the lads about new girl Georgia.

In the episode, the blonde beauty beauty made it clear how much she liked Hugo with the teacher taken aback with her forwardness, before telling his pals that he also wants to get to know Abigail too.

But fans at home have now questioned Hugo's motives and accused him of being on the show for a 'free holiday', with many even asking why he's in the villa.

During his three-week stint on the show, Hugo has struggled to find connections with the other girls, while in the space of a week he friendzoned both Sharon and AJ, who were consequently dumped from the villa.

With fans having consistently rooting for Hugo to find a girl, it appeared their support had grown thin as Hugo struggled to make his mind up about Georgia, who was very vocal with her feelings for the hunk.

Amid a chat with the boys, Hugo gave his verdict on Georgia, telling his pals that he was 'really looking forward to getting to know her', but in the same sentence added that he wanted to 'get to know Abi' as well.

He then added: 'I don't want to sound like a player and have options but I'm a player and I've got options, do you know what I mean!'

Later, he sat down with Georgia by the pool, where he told her: 'I don't know how I feel about you yet' before proceeding to ask her several questions.

When she told him she liked cats, he responded: 'Oh no!', before Georgia quickly added that she was 'actually into horses more'.

But this didn't impress Hugo either as he moaned: 'Oh no, really? My ex was horsey. Very horsey. It's fine. I'm terrible with them.'

Watching all the scenes unfold, viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Hugo, with many baffled as to what he wants from his villa experience.

'What is Hugo actually here for? He’s taking up space' asked one viewer.

'Think Hugo is in there for a free holiday tbh' accused a third watcher.

'Can one of the producers remind Hugo that he is on a reality TV Show called Love Island please' joked a fourth person.
