Anything Goes opened to a sold-out crowd at London's Barbican Theatre on Friday night, 16 months after the Covid-19 pandemic forced theatres to close.
The production, which stars Felicity Kendal, Robert Lindsay, Sutton Foster and Gary Wilmot, is the first big new show to open without social distancing in place, with the 1,200 capacity theatre completely sold out during its debut.
Delighted to see the theatre finally make its comeback amid the pandemic, the audience stopped the show three times to give standing ovations to the stars, and they were said to have 'gone wild' when Sutton first appeared.

The audience even stopped the production mid-way through some of the big musical numbers to give a standing ovation because they were so impressed.
In pictures taken during the performance and at curtain call, the audience can be seen up on their feet and clapping uproariously.
Cole Porter's iconic musical follows the antics of the passengers aboard an ocean liner heading to New York from London.
