Lambert worked at Channel Nine's GTV Melbourne studios for five decades, and was the station's longest-serving employee before his retirement in 2019.

He worked behind the scenes on many programs at Nine, primarily within the camera and staging departments.

Lambert became an 'accidental' star in the 1970s thanks to his appearances on Hey Hey It's Saturday - a sketch show known for breaking the fourth wall with improvisational-style comedy.
