Ant & Dec have reportedly created a new gameshow format that will offer contestants the chance to win a 'life-changing' cash prize.

Since finding fame on Byker Grove, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, both 45, have reinvented themselves as the kings of Saturday night television, after creating a number of new gameshows.

According to The Sun, the Geordie duo have created a new concept titled Fortune Favours the Brave with their production company, Mitre Television, which is lined up for an ITV prime-time slot.

An insider told the publication: 'It promises to be another sure-fire hit for the lads. Whether they host it or not remains to be seen.

'But either way, it’s very much the lads’ baby and they’ll put their all into making it a success,' they added.

The source also assured that the exciting new blueprint won’t be a rehash of other formulas.

'It promises to have their own unique twist and hallmark touches,' they said, adding that a hunt for contestants has already begun, with producers looking for  'confident, dynamic and competitive teams of two with a mix of strengths and personalities'.

Filming is expected to commence in the autumn so it looks likely that the show will be gracing our TV screens sometime next year.

MailOnline has contacted Ant and Dec's representatives for comment.
