Today Extra host Sylvia Jeffreys has revealed the touching reason she 'can't bloody wait' to get her second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

On Thursday, the 35-year-old - who lives in Sydney with her husband Peter Stefanovic and their two children - shared a throwback video of her mother Janine cuddling her son Oscar, one, long before the pandemic worsened.

She captioned the video highlighting that the sooner Covid is brought to a halt, the sooner she and everyone else gets to reunite with their loved ones - especially her beloved mum, who lives in Queensland.

'Three weeks and one day until I get my second AstraZeneca shot,' Sylvia wrote alongside the video, which saw Janine singing to Oscar in a rocking chair.

'The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can all be with the people we love.'

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Sydney's lockdown would be extended by at least four weeks as the city attempts to battle the contagious Delta strain of the virus.

Sylvia joins the long list of stars who have rolled up their sleeves to get the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Comedian Andy Lee, 40, received his first Covid jab earlier this month, sharing a photo to Instagram of the tell-tale Band-Aid on his arm.

'Got AZ. Spoke to my doctor beforehand and it was his recommendation. I know this approach is not for everyone so seek your own advice and take whatever path you feel is right for you,' he wrote.

He added: 'Disappointed not to get a lollipop at the end (only negative).'

The Project host Lisa Wilkinson, 61, revealed she'd received her first Covid vaccine late last month.

'First AZ shot done and literally didn't feel a thing… So glad to finally have the first one out of the way,' she wrote at the time.

She added: 'I have to admit, I was a tiny bit nervous, so I bought one of those tubs of Magnum ice-cream (that well-known medical cure-all) this afternoon just in case I was feeling bad tonight. I feel great. I ate the ice-cream anyway…'
